Menyingkap Makna di Tengah Fenomena Post-Truth

ABSTRAK
Fenomena post-truth yang ditandai oleh maraknya penyebaran berita hoaks, tampaknya menjadi hal yang tidak dapat dihindari dalam konteks masyarakat modern. Perkembangan era digital dewasa ini semakin memperkuat fenomena post-truth. Perkembangan ini semakin menfasilitasi dan mempermudah masyarakat untuk mendistrubusi juga mengonsumsi informasi secara instan, namun sering tidak diimbangi dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis untuk menilai kebenaran dari informasi yang diterima. Tulisan ini adalah refleksi filosofis Paul Ricoeur, secara khusus pentingnya menyingkap makna di tengah fenomena post-truth. Paul Recoeur mengusung “hermeneutik kecurigaan”, sebagai metodologi hermenutik yang membuka jalan untuk membangun kesadaran kritis di era post-truth. Metodologi kritis yang diusulkan Ricoeur menekankan proses refleksi sebagai sebuah jalan perenungan yang tidak saja ditujukan untuk membangun kapasitas berpikir kritis di tengah gempuran informasi yang tidak faktual, namun sebagai upaya menyingkap makna dari konteks yang dihidupi.

ABSTRACT
The post-truth phenomenon, which is characterized by the rampant spread of hoax news, seems to be unavoidable in the context of modern society. The development of the digital era today further strengthens the post-truth phenomenon. This development facilitates and makes it easier for people to distribute and consume information instantly, but it is often not balanced with the ability to think critically to assess the truth of the information received. This paper is a philosophical reflection on Paul Ricoeur, specifically the importance of uncovering meaning in the midst of the post-truth phenomenon. Paul Ricoeur promotes the “hermeneutic of suspicion”, as a hermeneutic methodology that paves the way for building critical consciousness in the post-truth era. The critical methodology proposed by Ricoeur emphasizes the process of reflection as a way of contemplation that is not only intended to build critical thinking capacity amid the onslaught of non-factual information, but as an effort to uncover the meaning of the context that is lived.
