Menelaah Spiritualitas Alkitabiah “Roti Kehidupan” melalui Eksegesa Historis Kritis Yohanes Pasal 6

Abstract
This paper explores the text of John chapter 6 about the "bread of life" from the spiritual perspective. The author uses a critical historical method to examine the spirituality contained in it. The author uses this approach by not only focusing on "what happened", but approaching it as "spirituality", which is the manifestation of living as believers. The words of Jesus Ἐγώ εἰμι ὠἄÏτος τῆς ζωῆς (EgÅ eimi ho artos tÄ“s zÅÄ“s, literally meaning I am the Bread of Life) are the first of the seven statements of Jesus "I am…" (EgÅ eimi) that appear in the Gospel of John. This statement appears in John chapter 6 which we also know as part of the discourse on the Bread of Life. The word "I am…" (EgÅ eimi) reflects YAHWEH's identity as He introduced Himself to Moses in Exodus 3:14 and Deutero-Isaiah’s prophecy. "Bread" (ἄÏτος, artos) became a term that could be used widely as a metaphorical, symbolic, and theological expression. While, "life" (ζωῆ, zÅÄ“) which Jesus meant was life in a holistic, spiritual, and physical sense. By declaring Himself to be the Bread of Life, Jesus said that He is the One who gives a whole, full, and abundant life, both in this world and in eternity to those who believe in Him. And that can only happen through His obedience to the Father's will, which is His sacrifice on the cross. In other words, it is His broken-down self that gives life. This is the spirituality of the bread of life that Jesus lived. So for us, who are people who have met Christ personally, the spirituality of the bread of life is a way of living self-sacrifice like Jesus Christ, becoming more like Christ every day, sacrificing ourselves, suppressing ego and our self-interest, prioritizing the importance of others, and committing to the goodness of all, for the blossoming of life in this world, now and here, and also in the future in eternity.

Tulisan ini menyelami teks Yohanes pasal 6 perihal “roti kehidupan†dari sisi spiritualitasnya. Penulis menggunakan metode historis kritis untuk menelaah spiritualitas yang terkandung di dalamnya. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan ini dengan tidak hanya berfokus pada “apa yang terjadiâ€, tetapi mendekatinya sebagai “spiritualitasâ€, yaitu perwujudan hidup beriman. Perkataan Yesus Ἐγώ εἰμι ὠἄÏτος τῆς ζωῆς (EgÅ eimi ho artos tÄ“s zÅÄ“s, secara harafiah berarti Akulah Roti Hidup; atau Roti Kehidupan) adalah pernyataan Yesus yang pertama dari tujuh pernyataan “Akulah…†(EgÅ eimi) yang muncul dalam Injil Yohanes. Pernyataan ini muncul dalam Yohanes pasal 6 yang juga kita kenal sebagai bagian Diskurus Roti Kehidupan. Kata “Akulah…†(EgÅ eimi) merefleksikan identitas YAHWEH sebagaimana Ia memperkenalkan diri-Nya kepada Musa dalam Keluaran 3: 14 dan nubuatan Deutero-Yesaya. “Roti†(ἄÏτος, artos) menjadi istilah yang dapat digunakan secara luas sebagai ungkapan metaforis, simbolis, dan teologis. Sedangkan “kehidupan†(ζωῆ, zÅÄ“) yang dimaksudkan Yesus merupakan hidup dalam arti holistik, spiritual sekaligus fisik. Dengan menyatakan diri-Nya sebagai Roti Kehidupan, Yesus berkata bahwa Ialah yang memberikan hidup yang utuh, penuh, dan limpah, baik di dunia ini, maupun di dalam kekekalan kelak kepada mereka yang percaya kepada-Nya. Dan itu hanya bisa terjadi melalui ketaatan-Nya kepada kehendak Bapa, yaitu pengorbanan-Nya di kayu salib. Dengan kata lain, diri-Nya yang terpecah itulah yang memberi hidup. Inilah spiritualitas roti kehidupan yang dihidupi Yesus. Maka bagi kita, yaitu orang-orang yang telah berjumpa dengan Kristus secara pribadi, spiritualitas roti kehidupan adalah way of life pengorbanan diri seperti Yesus Kristus, semakin serupa Kristus setiap hari, berkorban diri, menekan ego dan kepentingan diri sendiri, mengutamakan kepentingan sesama, dan berkomitmen untuk kebaikan bersama, demi berseminya kehidupan di dunia, sekarang dan di sini, dan juga kelak dalam kekekalan.
