Abstract

Pentecostal movement, then implanted and established in a number ofPentecostal churches, arrived in Indonesia since early 1920s. It is characterizedamong others by baptism in the Holy Spirit which is expressed in speaking intongues, but also by schisms. In spite of so many schisms and new churchorganizations, they also show a spectacular growth in quantity of members. Thisgrowth increase more significantly when the Charismatic movement, which is alsocalled Neo-Pentecostalism, comes into being and penetrates almost all main-lineor traditional churches. Its theology of success or theology of prosperity attracteda lot of Christians to join their communities and fellowships. No wonder if thistwin movement (Pentecostal and Charismatic) is forecasted to become the firstpower among Christianity in the future.
