Abstract

We must admit that person deserves to be discussed John Wesley in the context of theological discourse. There are several reasons that can be used as a rationale: John Wesley would like to emphasize again that there is a point of contact between theology and context. Point of contact was realized with constructive discourse through the class meeting.

In one of his sermon, John Wesley said:”even if you are baptized or not yet and follow the sacraments which was held by the church, even if you go to the church twice in one day and you follow the worship of the Sunday service, even you make time for private pray.... but you are unable to actualized God’s grace in your context around then you can not be called a new creation...”. Means John Wesley wanted to say that context is very important as a target of class meeting. Changes in society will be better if not always through dogmatic mind, but change must start with a real action.

Although at the John Wesley’s period his methods used to be a source of ridicule, but in the end the class meeting method into a force that can change the condition of England, even through the United States to materialize into a institutionalized church under the name of the Methodist.
