Mengapa Sarai menjadi Israel?

Abstract

The history of Israel is written as the offspring of Jacob, in order to support the Davidic state. Though the court scribes had inserted Abram as Sarai’s husband in the genealogy of Israel, still Sarai as the Mother cannot be ignored. Through historical imagination, this article is trying to explore the role of the Davidic state in changing thematrilocal and matrilineal customs to patrilineal and patriarchal control and authority over the Hebrew tribes.
